Reviewer Guidelines

Reviewers are required to provide scientific review based on following principles:

  • Excellence
Clear and rigourous selection criteria which emphasize the identification of excellence
  • Autonomy
that the decisions of the peer review process are the sole criteria for selecting scientific excellence
  • Impartiality
that the process of peer review is free of bias
  • Transparent
that the principles which guide decisions concerning the structure and process of peer review are visible
  • Confidential
that the details of the process of deliberation and decision-making concerning individual research funding applications in peer review forums will be secure from external influence or interference
  • Fair
that the processes, procedures and mechanisms of peer review and the procedures for the oversight of peer review will be clearly described to individual researchers, to ensure that the principles by which research funds are allocated are perceived to be fair and impartial.

NMRC sends request for review based on domain expertise for the Individual Research Grants (IRG). NMRC ensures an unbiased review process by managing the conflict of interest and confidentiality of information policies.
